School Event FAQ

Everything Springfield teachers, PTA coordinators, and administrators need to know before booking.

What kind of inflatables are best for a school field day?
It depends on your grade levels. For elementary students (K–5), classic bounce houses and combo units with slides are the sweet spot — they focus on pure play and burning energy without needing complex rules. Middle schoolers (6–8) love long obstacle courses and head-to-head competitive games like jousting because the social competition keeps them engaged. High school students (9–12) want the thrill factor: mechanical bulls, bungee runs, and giant slides that create shareable moments. Most schools mix equipment across grade-level rotations, and we help you build the right package for your school’s specific layout and schedule.
How far in advance should I book inflatables for a school event?
For school events, we recommend booking 4 to 8 weeks in advance — earlier if your event falls in May or early June, which is peak season. Field days, graduation events, and carnivals all cluster in the same 6-week window, and popular equipment like obstacle courses and mechanical bulls reserves fast. You can technically book as late as the day before, but your selection will be limited. Locking in early also gives you time to confirm details with your district and get any insurance documents in order.
Does Jumping Jacks Events handle all the setup and teardown?
Yes — always. Setup and teardown are included with every rental. Our crew arrives at least 30 minutes before your event start time, handles all delivery, inflation, staking (or sandbagging for hard surfaces), and safety walkthrough before students ever touch the equipment. At the end of your event, we return, break everything down, and load it all out. Teachers, volunteers, and coordinators focus on the kids — not the equipment.
What is a Senior Sendoff, and how is it different from Project Graduation?
Project Graduation is a longstanding national tradition — a supervised, alcohol-free celebration held overnight after commencement to keep graduates safe. Springfield Public Schools transitioned to a shorter “Senior Sendoff” format in 2024, held on-campus at each high school rather than at an off-site venue. Both events serve the same core purpose: giving seniors a memorable, safe way to celebrate. The equipment that works best for both formats is similar — mechanical bulls, competitive obstacle courses, giant slides, and interactive games that seniors actually want to participate in. Jumping Jacks has experience supporting both formats.
Can Jumping Jacks Events support a PTA fundraiser or school carnival?
Absolutely. We regularly work with PTAs across Springfield and Southwest Missouri on carnivals, fundraising nights, and family event days. We help you select the right mix of attractions for your school’s size and budget, handle all logistics, and provide full setup and teardown. Our team is experienced on school campuses and understands how to run multiple attractions simultaneously with large groups. Call us to talk through what a carnival package would look like for your school — every event is different, and we build packages accordingly.
What surfaces can inflatables be set up on at a school?
Our inflatables work on grass, concrete, asphalt, and gymnasium floors — making them compatible with almost any school campus layout. On grass or dirt, we use ground stakes. On hard surfaces like blacktop or gym floors, we use sandbags. We need access to a standard electrical outlet (15 or 20 amp) within 100 feet of the setup area. If your space is farther from power, we can provide a generator at an additional charge. If you’re unsure about your campus setup, just give us a call — we’re happy to talk through logistics before you book.
Does Jumping Jacks Events carry liability insurance for school events?
Yes. We carry liability insurance above Missouri state requirements, and we provide a certificate of insurance for every school event upon request. Many Springfield-area schools and the Springfield Public Schools district require this before approving any vendor on campus. Just let us know when you book that your school needs the COI, and we’ll have it ready well in advance of your event.
What happens if the weather is bad on our school event day?
Safety comes first. If rain, high winds, or severe weather are forecast, our team will contact you no later than 2 hours before your event to discuss options. If the event can move indoors, we can often accommodate that. If it can’t be rescheduled or moved, we offer a full refund or an alternative rental date. We know that school events take months to plan and coordinate with hundreds of families — we do everything we can to communicate early so you have time to adjust communications to parents and students.
